Hello,
@kirk,
Blacklisted 2800 as suggested, but 5390 didnt show up after install..
Rebooted.. No change...
Specified it and got no new interface..
Rebooted, and there was ra0 as hoped...
A side note...
On the newer kernels > 2.6.38.x the wireless switch is inoperable, but only after X loads.. If I press it before X loads, it will come on.. Odd...
Close the Windows, and open your eyes, to a whole new world

Why does everyone have to get so freakin' Fancy Pants
and it just turns to shit.
All your efforts are useless if basics like sound and networking
and video stuff up.
I understand it's hard to cater to everyone's whims.
But others have got the box and dice going nicely,
and then it's done over for no friggin' result.
Yes! I gave playdayz a work over sometimes because of
wireless and other issues.
But look at Lucid 528 now....a show champion.
And why is Frisbee not in all menus.
Thought I saw it there...Jeez.
When you're trying to test something and rebooting
so many times >> in so many Puppies >> trying to get one going,
it's pure misery looking in every bloody menu.
It might have been an oversight...but???
""""""""""
And what about the >> desktop.
I had a whinge a few times about the crap desktop in Lucid.
Why didn't you use the Fat Dog pic I saw in Firefox.
Too cartoonish?? ....ditch the bird...or was it a tribute to Barry?
If so...give us something as an alternate wallpaper.
The Firefox doggo is OK.
I am a plain Jane bloke.
But the world demands >> niceee niceee bling interface read >> desktop.
>>>>>>>
Now in all fairness I checked again.
I booted another Pup,
deleted the save file, rebooted Fat Dog, and installed the pet,
Oh! yes. Now I remember seeing that message now >> use Frisbee
which was what I looked for, but which you kindly hid in Setup,
but did not display anywhere else.
I mean I enjoyed losing another hour connecting.
Obviously i will not change my user name to Sherlock Bear.
What a nightmare.
""""
Next sound >> as reported by windows it is
>> Conexant Smart Audio HD
I delete the save...again..with another Puppy.
I have already been through hell getting the sound to work,
but I'll play fair...do a fresh boot.
At boot to the desktop >> Nothing happens...
Is Fatdog a barker?
So in Alsa Equaliser Mixer
I changed to >> default >> and it is now showing
>> Conexant Cx20590
Once again...why isn't the >> multiple sound card there
in multimedia?? Another choice.
yet it's there in >> usr/bin
Try my test mp3...as there is no bark.
= xine engine error
Input plugin failed to open mrl /mnt.
Alsa Equaliser control is off...>> I turn it on.
Alsa Mixer shows...But mp3 fails again.
Chipset says alsaequal
Hit F6 >> highlight says >> enter device name
I select >> Default
Card >> HDA Intel PCH
Chip now shows >> Conexant CX20590
Hit F5 >> give Master a few more hits upwards
Esc...Still errors. bugger bugger
But Xine plays off my usb...yeah.
But not off my hard drive SDA2.
Come on,....this is bullshit.
Open up Pmusic to add the mp3 from SDA2.
It decides to play.
Why the hell is it so convoluted?
Plays off one drive and not another.
Why not let Pmusic default to play music.
Or is this a moment for Nooby to expound on root?
Is that what it's about?
Too hard.
Are we trying to attract people here or not?
Gee...might have to give Gentoo a go.
You are talented.... but this isn't Puppy 5 years ago.
I know nothing much about 32 and 64 bit.
And quite honestly I don't care to know.
I don't have to know much about cars either.
Most just get in and drive....poorly.
I thank you for giving me
a quick Windows alternative if this Toshiba goes down.

Any torrents or mirrors welcome . . .
Should this be released as our first official 64bit Puppy? I hope so . . .

You can now also download a copy from here, along with mdsum.

And while i'm here, many thanks, Kirk and Jamesbond - earlier Fatdogs and the last beta are among my most-used on the Mac, since it's the only 64-bit machine i have. It's a great distro!
Cheers

It's also available here: http://puppylinux.ca/fatdog/ - courtesy of Caneri. It doesn't have have all the SFS yet but at least the main iso and devx is there.
Thanks, guys, Fatdog65-520 is happily running in both Atom boards that I have: 230 and 410. I see that these Atoms are 64-bit compatible!
I can forget the blues in my Fusion laptop for now. [Correction below.]
EDIT: Since I added "radeon.modeset=0" in the kernel line while testing Racy Alpha, this AMD Fusion laptop has behaved nicely, and am using it now with FD64-520. Using synaptics multi-touch = WOW !!!

@raffy
I dont like seeing that your Fusion dont fire up and a atom does. My E-350 Fusion in an Acer Aspire only has a small hick-up in the touchpad. Firstly try firing up the live CD with a mice plugged in. I had no trouble doing a 'full install' to the HD, sfs's load on the fly, well Openshot did, does. 'adjust touchpad' in 'setup' dont work' touchpad might be too new for the kernel. My work around was to delete xorg.config (etc/x11) and to rename 'xorg.config without synaptics' (or what ever t.pad you have) as the new xorg.config and then change the min. mice speed from 1 up to 3 and max. speed up to 4. Very sloooow mice pointer. So if you can boot from any other Puppy CD try that.
Hello,
Last summer Jamesbond and Kirk tried to help me get Fatdog 500 working on a VIA nano netbook, but it would freeze at the "loading kernel modules" stage. This post is to let you know that version 520 loads and runs as a frugal install. So far everything works, and I like it a lot.
Thanks!
Wognath
Good news re AMD Fusion emachines d443 laptop Radeon HD 6310: Since I added "radeon.modeset=0" in the kernel line while testing Racy Alpha, this AMD Fusion laptop has behaved nicely, and am using it now with FD64-520. Using synaptics multi-touch, all I can say is, WOW !!!
(I admit not being a fan of the touch pad because of my small eeePC 701, but scrolling the screen with two fingers in this AMD Fusion laptop just made my day. )
Thanks a lot, Kirk and the Fatdog64-520 team!

joe0855 wrote:...Also, this may be a question for the folks at Apache Friends but do you know if Xampp 1.7.4 works in Fatdog64? For some reason, I cannot get the MySQL service started (Xampp is located in opt/lampp). Everything else (ie Apache, ProFTPD) starts up just fine. Thanks.
Luv'in Fatdog64!
To answer my own question, I'm embarrassed to report that I needed to set write permissions on the '/tmp' folder. The clue was the error message found in the log file (/opt/lampp/var/mysql/*.err).
/opt/lampp/sbin/mysqld: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/ibHBoVfA' (Errcode: 13)
110918 13:21:26 InnoDB: Error: unable to create temporary file; errno: 13
Thanks Bill. The Guvcview pet seems to work well. We'll be coming out with a 521 soon. Just some bug fixes and minor upgrades, and then we'll probably hibernate for a while . I'll include Guvcview.
I saw these instructions for using Audacity in a Windows OS.
CREATE YOUR OWN RINGTONE:
0. Install Audacity sound recording & editing freeware http://audacity.sourceforge.net
1. Download & unpack Lame MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3) encoder freeware http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~raa110/audacity/lame.html
2. Start Audacity & tell it to point to lame for MP3 encoding
Edit > Preferences > File Formats > 'Find Library'
After you select the LAME "lame_enc.dll" file you unpacked,
MP3 exporting will then be available.
3. Start a new project to create .mp3 ringtones by pressing
the RECORD & STOP buttons in Audacity.
4. In Audacity, "File > Export as MP3" or "File > Export as WAV"
to save your ringtone to disk.
Questions
Does the Audacity PET have or eliminate the need for all of these steps in FATDOG?
Is it necessary in Puppy to load MP3 functionality?
Thanks in advance for ways you think are useful.

Thank you for providing us Bibletime 2,8.1 for Fatdog 64. It's working great except for the "Bookshelf Manager" which cannot connect to remote sites to download resources. Although if a user has access to Sword files the necessary modules and *.conf files can be copied over or linked and the program works fine. It still provides another fine tool for sharing and studying God's word. See the Bibletime thread for additional comments on your pets.
i was running Puppy lupu528 from a 2 Gb flash prndrive on my MSI mobo 8 Gb RAM 4 core i3 while procrastinating... i mean, deciding which HDDs and video cards and OSs to install since Win8 sped up my boot HDD's demise. fast and easy but only recognized ~3 Gb RAM. everything worked, onboard Intel video to wireless but didn't bother with HP printer. 50 seconds from switch to fully functional desktop, faster than the Win7 normally on it. had problems with Virtualbox since it was 32 bit.
i've been running Puppy from USB pendrive before on my Dell E1505 dual core 32 bit notebook and i prefer its speed and simplicity over the Ubuntu (and stock XP) it normally runs. fast and complete.
d/l-ed Fatdog64 today and using a multi-session CD it seems even faster on this i3, plus it's using all that RAM. recognized 1920x1200 monitor, Aurora and Flash and streaming music on the internet, right away. sweet. can't wait to see what Virtualbox can do on this 64 bit OS.
so naturally i registered in the forum so i could say i appreciate it. eh, i'd rather lurk most times, but Fatdog64 is impressive enough to overcome my preference for shadows.
i'll let you know if anything unusually good or bad happens as i work it out. unlike the Distrowatch.com reviewer who loaded Puppy on his HDD because he could, i believe it's far better running this distro as recommended in RAM from CD or USB pendrive.
I am a new puppy fan and user.
I have several linux machines under my control, and I usually run KDE based Mepis. It is a great distro with a great community, but on my experimental machine, with the newest Mepis 11, I could never get the sound to work on the browser. So, I tried Mint, and now puppy.
So far I am liking it ! I have a Lucid Puppy 528 on a USB flash drive install and now a frugal hard drive (off of a SSD, very fast booting) of fatpuppy64.
I wanted the 64 bit as this machine has 8 Gig of RAM.
So, one question so far.
How can I get my data drive (sdb1) to mount automatically on boot?
On the Lucid 528 there is the utility (now I forgot the name mountboot or something).
How can I auto mount sdb1 automatically at boot on fatpuppy?
