The World has lost an Internet Crusader for Public good

#1 Post by gcmartin »

There is already an open topic on this. Should you want to respond, I encourage all forum members to add to that thread rather than this one.

Julian, Aaron, and others are people who try as they might to give the rest of us awareness. Ofter times the public misses the understanding of the contribution people like these crusaders make.

Here's a reading for those unaware
Whether or not the government contributed to his suicide, the government’s prosecution of Swartz was a grotesque miscarriage of justice, a distorted and perverse shadow of the justice that Aaron died fighting for — freeing the publicly-funded scientific literature from a publishing system that makes it inaccessible to most of those who paid for it — enabling the collective betterment of the world through the facilitation of sharing — an ideal that we should all support.
Let hope awareness flourishes.

Quote from who knows who?
  • Because whatever problems Aaron was facing, killing himself didn't solve them. Whatever problems Aaron was facing, they will go unsolved forever. If he was lonely, he will never again be embraced by his friends. If he was despairing of the fight, he will never again rally his comrades with brilliant strategies and leadership. If he was sorrowing, he will never again be lifted from it.
They were going to make slave of him. For all intents and purposes the Prison will own his ass for years to come. Even if he wanted to solve 'the problems he was facing', it wouldn't do much good, because he'd have a whole different set of problems to solve once he got to prison.

I second that Bruce. These days crap is beginning to hit the fan, and I think that hopefully if anything, we will learn to unite, and undo the damage that those who have been controlling us have tried to stop us with.

Who is Aaron Swartz? There are some, for whom it appears, who do not know who he was or what he's done for our use of the internet.

For a good understanding, Look here

P.S. Disregard anyone's attempt to discredit Wikipedia. This behavior is very similar to political behavior in US. Where if there is a single item that can be found to be in question, then we should discredit the whole thing. This in NOT NOW and NEVER was the behavior mankind should be following.

We should be combining as much factual truth as we can and combine that with other factual truth for a full and accurate picture. And, where things appear to be wrong, set the record straight by contributing to make things accurate.

Discounting and discrediting does NOT MAKE THINGS ACCURATE. Any knowledgeable contribution you make, can.

I'm not sure which is worse, the trolling or the delusions.
