Re: demand
Hi Arefacti, did you try to download from https://www.torproject.org/download/dow ... sy.html.en Description from the site Everything you need to safely browse the Internet. This package requires no installation. Just extract it and run.Arefacti wrote:I would like to get Tor-bundle,is it possible ?
try to get it with paka without success
I'm now compiling xfce using description about dependencies from this site
http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/building
It will be like standard xfce but without thunar, as we already have spacefm.
Will also add gnome icon theme, some icons are missing in my cut-down version of faenza.
Arefacti, to start program as regular user open terminal and type: su alpha and then tor-browser
Cheers

Xfce Desktop Environment
Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. It aims to be fast and low on system resources, while still being visually appealing and user friendly.
You need to Install xfce4-session package and that will get all the others as dependencies. Then press Logout in openbox, on next xorg start you will be using Xfce. Total number of packages is 12, size 7.2 Mb gnome-icons-theme alone is 3.5 Mb all locales are enabled..
Note: when you remove package xfce4-session, with post_install function it will restore openbox as default window manager

Hi Simargl,
I'm following the thread on and off and the alphaOS looks very promising.
I got a bit confused by the package system. On one hand, it seems the default Arch packages can be installed using pacman, on the other hand I see you come up with a list of packages you're building yourself from scratch. What would be the difference?
Keep it up!

Hi gulk thanks for your interest
pacman can install programs but some of them will not work because they are compiled for Arch kernel and udev version, that was problem in archpup also. Example is virtual box that did not work in archpup but here it works, second example is deadbeef - it could not compile in archpup because of missing iconv in glibc. Those kind of problems were unsolvable for me ; I could not update udev because with newer version sound and internet connections didn't work. It might sound strange but maintaining alphaOS for me is easier than Archpup, I don't need to compile new kernel for every new release as glibc version is locked at 2.17. Having two package managers in same system is not good idea so pacman is removed from repository, but here is Sensei made by stifiling to support installing programs with pacman only.
Cheers

problem openbox
Hello
I tested XFCE4 and wanted to return to openbox.
So, I removed xfce4 packages and re start X
openbox start well but the menu had problems. Those windows appears and the applications don't start :
Invalid output from pipe-menu "openbox-menu /etc/xdg/menus/lxde-applications.menu"
Have you ideas please ?

Re: gt 430
glipper has too many python dependencies, so instead there is parcellite added to repository. I wanted to make ffmpeg small so maybe too much is disabled http://alphaos.freeforums.org/multimedi ... g-t36.html. will check that later.ndrancs wrote:can i have glipper in googlecode repo? and ffmpeg with libvorbis, libmp3lame, libfaac, libaacplus,x264, like in arhhpup version.
yes, pleasendrancs wrote:thanks for the update, and how about ffmpeg, may i compile it myself?
I'm thinking to use configure options like here for next version (except --enable-nonfree)

Re: problem openbox
Can you verify that lxde-applications.menu is in folder /etc/xdg/menus. Maybe try to remove /root/.cache it should force menu to recreate. And what is output "openbox-menu /etc/xdg/menus/lxde-applications.menu" in terminalArefacti wrote:Hello
