TahrPup 5.8.4
that's the problem with encrypted savefiles , they are liable to corrupt if there's an improper shutdown! for a password you could try woofwoof puppies default one.Tm_mT wrote:some more detailed report:
This is the main part of the error message I got:
Performing a switch_root to the layered system general error mounting filesystem a maintenance shell will not be started, give root password...
Then tried to enter the encryption password, " root" and " puppy" => no luck
concerning your shutdown problems, has tahrpup ever shutdown properly on your computer? or has it had this problem even on the first run?

Not sure, but I just ran TahrPup from ram and it shuts down correctly.666philb wrote: that's the problem with encrypted savefiles , they are liable to corrupt if there's an improper shutdown! for a password you could try woofwoof puppies default one.

I also tried woofwoof as password and it was indeed accepted.
TahrPup started in safe mode(?) and I have no idea what to do next - I assume I should do a fsck? But is it possible to fsck an encrytped volume?
apparently you can, see last post .. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=41918
i would be interested to know if you still have the shutdown problem with a regular savefile or save to folder option (recommended)

Thanks! Indeed it worked, well.. result was not what I hoped for. the encrypted file was after the repair still unreadable so I deleted the save file.666philb wrote:apparently you can, see last post .. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=41918
After above I installed TahrPup again with the "save to folder" option. This time no issues and my PC did shutdown correctly.666philb wrote: i would be interested to know if you still have the shutdown problem with a regular savefile or save to folder option (recommended)
Re: LxPup-by-SFS (LXDE desktop) for TahrPup 5.8.3 is available
peebee i would be glad if you provided the built/patched libglib, i too tried to use pupvol monitor and failed. Unlike you i wanted to use it with xfce and thunor, better yet 666philb could avail it in quickpet, it could also be used with mate desktop.

aaaarg!! sorry kimathi, i must have forgotten to upload them (meaning to once the kernel had been tested) and now i can't find them!kimathi wrote:where can i download the kernel sources for 'kernel-3.14.13_PAE.tar.xz'
so i tried recompiling the kernel and aufs-utils fails to build, i've tried about 12 different combinations of kernel versions + patches or kernel with noPAE and none have successfully built! maybe the aufs repo has altered something or my computer is on the blink. I'll look into it further when i get time and try and build a no-pae kernel.

There are no tahrfix.pet in the 'latest' folder, but there are 2 fairly recent tahrfix.zip in the 'quickpet' folder - do they need to be installed to give the most up-to-date TahrPup?666philb wrote:.....also install any tahrfix.pet that may be located in the 'latest' folder

Re: kernel sources
Well i noticed shinobar built an nvidia driver for the kernel maybe he has it, Anyway i love your creation so far kernel 3.14 seems to work best for me and i usually use PAE kernel since i have 4gb ram. Thanks for the good work. Could you push build system to WOOFCE.666philb wrote:

Re: kernel sources
Instead, I used kernel_sources-3.14.11-tahr_PAE.sfs to build the nvidia-glx-340.24-k3.14.13.sfs, and it was OK.kimathi wrote:Well i noticed shinobar built an nvidia driver for the kernel maybe he has it,

How to change sombre colours of PartView and Pmount displays
Hi all
How can I change the sombre colours of the PartView and Pmount displays?
I have no interest in eye candy, so if the Desktop tools Chtheme or JWM can do the job, can someone please tell me how. If these tools can't, then Please Mr. Dev, at least embolden the white text to improve visibility for these failing eyes.
An afterthought: How about adding a Refresh button to PartView?

Look at the alternate Partview here. It may be easier to read.B.K. Johnson wrote:How can I change the sombre colours of the PartView display?

Thanks rcrsn51. That certainly eases the eyestrain. And it has Rescan/Refresh to boot.rcrsn51 wrote:Look at the alternate Partview here. It may be easier to read.B.K. Johnson wrote:

[EDIT]
Removed comment that only mounted drive/partition data is displayed after trying the All button.
