Maybe, we (the Xbatalarm authors, me and my husband) can help, if you can give us a feedback about the wrong behaviour or an error output.

Thanks in advance. Congratulations for Tahrpup. :)

Bye.

If running Puppy in a way that uses a save file/directory.
Make the save file/directory and be booted using it, before installing program packages.

If you got Flashplayer installed properly you should have /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

In Firefox->Tools->Add_ons->Plugins

You should see Flash player and it should be active.

It is for me with no problem.
I installed by using menu->Internet->Getflash install Flashplayer.

Try this:

In Puppy Package Manager(PPM) click on uninstall
Uninstall any entries for Flashplayer.
Reboot the computer.

After reboot
Try installing by using Getflash.

May also be a good idea to have Firefox installed before running Getflash.

Firefox is best to get by using Quickpet
If unsure how you installed it.
Delete it by using PPM uninstall.
Reinstall using Quickpet.
You can use Firefox internal update to update to latest version.

My computer install of Flashplayer
This isn't working. I even created a new save file. Firefox Add-ons shows Flash is a plugin for Firefox. My plugins folder under the usr path is the same as yours. In particular, neither spotify nor youtube work.

Perhaps I should also note that deadbeef won;t play mp3 files. The mp3 file is loaded into the queue but nothing happens.

Am I missing something else?

hi knl,

mp3's not playing probably means your sound card isn't setup. try menu>>>setup>>>multiple soundcard wizard and choose your card.

"isn't working" does not really tell us anything.
For Youtube.
What exactly happens when you try to play a video?
Does Youtube give you any errors when you try to play a video?

What version of Flashplayer are you installing?

Here is something being developed for Puppy Package Manager(PPM)

The ability to select the download location, if you decide to install and also save the pet package or just download the pet package.

Here is a pet to update PPM with this feature.
(it is in testing, but seems the big bugs are fixed and it worked for me OK)
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 684#810684

After installing pet.
Go to PPM config->miscellaneous to make changes.

HOW?
Found and installed smm-1.0rc1.pet

Installed 2 dependencies:
glib12-1.2.10.pet
gtk+12-1.2.10.pet

Silly question... how can users change the color of the text used with the desktop icons (to make it easier to read with a darker background image)?

Changing the icon theme doesn't change the style of the text. I looked at the JWM theme and GTK theme tools, but those don't appear to affect the icon text either.

Thanks - found it under options > pinboard.

Was surprised to see it as a Rox setting rather than a theme setting. Looks like I need to learn a little more about Rox.

brightness features on laptop hp 2530 p

#252 Post by charlie6 »

Hi,
on laptop hp 2530 p:
here having brightness control keys fn-f8 ans fn-f9 (i.e. press simultaneously the fn - function key and f8 or f9 key) not working using Tahr-6.0-PAE (identical as forum member solnyshok in the following post - Those keys works when running bios):
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... fa51f1e178

On the same thread page, forum member Pemasu gives some ideas to fix that:
solnyshok. There is laptop-mode functionality scripts in Upup Raring.
/etc/acpi/* is the location.

Check content of etc/acpi/turbo.sh and /etc/acpi/performance.sh

There is the relevant row which changes the brightness.
About keybindings. Xbindkeys provide it in Upup Raring.
There is a gui to find out the key parameter and to bind it to the command.

In Menu > Utility > Xbindkeys config utility.
In Tahr-6.0, where to find or download the right Xbindkeys and Laptop-mode; and also some acpi.pet having etc/acpi/turbo.sh and /etc/acpi/performance.sh in it (i've already browsed www.smokey01/.../pemasu/ repo without finding anything).

Thanks for any reply
Cheers, Charlie

resize of an OpenGL windows fails

#254 Post by Satori »

Hiyas... been giving the pup a try to see if it can replace my dpup,

All the apps I use, work (including XBMC), but whenever I try to resize a window running an openGL app (Second Life),
the window immediately redraws and loses focus of the mouse cursor, meaning that you can't resize the window.

Behaviour on other pups is that the durring a resize, the window's border changes size and is then redrawn when
the resize cursor is released. What happens in Tahr is that the window is constantly being redrawn durring resize
and loses the resize cursor.

- installed NVidia 340.58
- installed kernel 3.17.4

On two laptops with different nvidia chips, resize fails.

is there an X11 or JWM setting that affects drawing durring a resize operation?

Hiyas...

The JWM settings has no effect on the windows behaviour, in fact, the settings themselves don't take as it always
revert back to 'outline' setting.

The way the windows behaves suggests it's neither 'outline' or 'opaique', as the window is dynamicly being redrawn
as the frame is being resized.

more info....

looks like the window manager isn't playing nice with the nvidia 340.56 and kernel 3.17.4 PAE combo,
as the wm is misbehaving at times on other windows.

odd how that isn't working now .... i'll have to look into it.

you can change it manually by editing /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal

the move mode &
the resize mode

restart jwm after

yep... editing it to 'outline' lets me resize without the openGL app losing cursor focus.

Fatdog64 uses opaique but redraws without losing control.
