scabz wrote:666philb can you include ca-certificates as an update or in the next version of tahrpup, also can you include a system link libmng.so.1 to libmng.so.2.0.2 in /usr/lib/

it no biggie if ya dont want to.
thanks again for tahrpup!!!
hi scabz .... ca-certificates are added as a bugfix in 6.0 (it will be included 6.0.1) ... you get it when using the 'bugfix' button in quickpet.
check quickpet>>help>>installed bugfixes to see if installed.

i'll add the symlink ... what's it for?

thanks for these packages ... i'll upload them to tahrpup repo and they'll be available in the PPM.....
could i request the ghecko browser plugin https://code.google.com/p/gecko-mediaplayer/ it would be good to add it to the gnome-mplayer package

cheers

the only difference between my smplayer/smtube pets for precise and tahr is that link, would make it better for me to just provide 1 pet for all. which is why the link is not needed just wanted.

as tahr is it would be a undertaking cuzz well the mozilla browser is in /opt/ instead of the normal puppy way /usr/lib/ then the libs included in the browser can be shared and i would need the DEV or header files from the browser, so whoever compiled palemoon would be able to do it easyer.

i could compile just the needed libs from mozila but would take alot of time and i might as well compile the browser.
last time i compiled firefox/seamonkey it took 6-8 hours i can't remember i fell asleep.

i might do it when i have time but would be a task.

Any ideas on installing the latest Chrome browser? I tried last night and it locked up the entire OS. I had to do a panic reboot with the power button.

It would be a much nicer world if everything I accomplished while I was sleeping stayed around when I awoke. :)

My apologies, scabz. I really tried not to read you literally. But I guess 35 years as an attorney --nit-picking every word-- took a toll on my sensibilities.

Hi scabz,

Glad you could take a joke. And your writing skills are fine. I wish my programming skills were half as good as yours.

666philb,

Just want to let you know that "Tahrpup 6.01 testing No PAE" is running very well in my

MSI U270 netbook 11 inch
AMD Dual Core E450
Wireless : RTL8192ce (provided by rcrsn51)
Bluetooth Headset : (instructions and program provided by tempestuous and rcrsn51)

Network Share : YASSM 2.7 (very effective "file sharing" provided by rcrsn51)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Softwares I have successfully installed and working well :

- Softmaker freeoffice
- Zim Desktop Wiki
- Startmount
- quickpet tahr
- Seamonkey
- truecrypt
- pinta
- smplayer
- virtualbox-4.3.12-1.sfs (provided by shinobar)
- bluez_4.101-streaming.pet (provided by rcrsn51 / excellent guidance by tempestuous
- Network Share : YASSM 2.7 (very effective "file sharing" provided by rcrsn51)
- LXDE desktop environment (peebee's excellent follow up efforts of Jejy69 inspiring LXDE for puppy linux)
- PeasyWifi v. 3.3 (trying it out... So far, it is working nicely! It is from rcrsn51)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Softwares I could not install successfully in Tahrpup 6.01 :

- None so far

---------------------------------------------------------------

Softwares that I intend to try but not yet :

- SCIM japanese input

------------------------------------------------------------------

Again, Thank you for Tahrpup 6.01. After having successfully configured my WIFI, Bluetooth with the help of long time puppy linux experts, I can say that "Tahrpup 6.01 no pae testing" is one of the best puppy Linux I have used.

Special Thanks for making it possible to decide whether to "save" or "no save" at shutdown. (This is truly my favorite feature for puppy Linux because in previous Puppy linuxs which did not come with this feature, I cannot count the number of times I would break puppy settings so badly that I had to create safe files again and again ... now it comes with saved folders ... nice.)

hi pchan

tahrpup 6.0.1 has different kernel sources you need the ones that say 'update'
quickpet>>useful tab>>>kernel src
plus you need the devx but i guess you knew that[/url]

Thanks 666philb,

I used the wrong kernel sources I think because it was the one that didn't say "update."

I will try again.

By the way, devx, i use "devx_tahr_6.0.1.sfs." This is the correct one, right?

Finally, for "virtualbox sfs, I use "virtualbox-4.3.12-1.sfs" from shinobar. Should be OK, with the proper Tahr's kernel sources and devx, right?

EDIT:

666philb,

THANKS!

With the correct kernel sources,"kernel_sources-3.14.20-tahr_noPAE_update.sfs" ... Virtualbox was installed successfully! I have also tested it and it ran correctly without any problem.

Thanks! Will edit my previous post. So, it looks like all is working well (even bluetooth) with Tahrpup 6.01 no pae (under testing folder) !!!

A highly recommended Puppy linux distro! ( has almost everything that is useful for normal computing needs plus it is a puppy and therefore it is very easy to install/reinstall to hard disk or external pendrives. A real winner!

(That makes me wonder why it is still in a "Testing" folder ...??? Why not release it complete as a puppy that is 'Bluetooth ready" .. Very few Puppy comes as "bluetooth-ready" and those that have "bluetooth support" .... does not support bluetooth headsets for some reasons. )

Hi 666philb

re: post #1

The Broadcom WL drivers for the updated 3.14.20 kernel hadn't been uploaded - but they are now.

Perhaps you could change post #1 to say it is the _2 pets that are needed for 6..0.2......

Thanks

I like the changes that I see with ppm, also the right click options are nice. This is very good work. Will be using this one as my main os. Is there a wine that works best for this puppy?
