okay, without more information this is only going to be a guesswork

1. Did you try manually correcting the time? Is the changed time retained after reboot?
2. Do you use multiple operating systems on the same machine - especially windows?

The OS usually needs to be told the correct time (manually or via a program), it also needs to be told how the hardware clock is to be interpreted

If i remember correctly, windows uses local time by default and most linux distributions use UTC

I had this issue on my dual booting netbook, switching between the operating systems would always mess with the time

resolved it by setting the puppy linux clock to local time and not UTC

I am not on a puppy machine at the moment and cannot confirm the settings

After setting time zone.
I use localtime with no problem.

The physical internal clock in the computer does have to be working correctly.

You can always use the sync option, in Pupclockset, to sync to the internet broadcast time.
It will adjust time to the time zone you have selected.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

scientist, did you try a new puppy or OS lately? Or remember running any specific programs when you noticed the time change?

Is the time zone you are in UTC -5 hours?

Sometimes there can be an issue with the hardware clock with respect to the system clock. This can be checked at a command prompt with the hwclock command:

Code: Select all

hwclock
If the system time is not correct but the hardware clock is, then

Code: Select all

hwclock --hctosys
Sets the system clock from the hardware clock.

Alternatively

Code: Select all

hwclock --systohc
Sets the hardware clock from the system clock.

In the last year or 2, the mysterious "they" moved Greenwich Mean Time from Greenwich, England to New York (closer to Wall Street).
