Sorry, in advance. I've seen posts before but searching for "Mac" brings up a ton of false positives.
The situation:
I have a friend with a 2007 MAC that wants to get files off of it; it's not booting currently. Looks like a possible job for Puppy or Quirky....
Been a PC guy so tell me:
What is available for older MACs? and can I create a Live CD or USB using my PC to create the MAC build?

Puppy is a X86 system.
If the MAC has an Intel X86 processor it should be able to run a Puppy version.
As a general guess for a 2007 computer hardware.
Lucid Puppy 528.005 (lupu) would be a good starting point for a Puppy version to try.

The iso file is the complete Puppy OS.
Understand that only way to know how a Puppy would run is to just try it.
I would stick to Puppy versions that are of the 5 series.

A Puppy live CD is made using a CD burning program to burn the iso image to the CD.
Any CD burning program should have option to burn iso image.
Done correctly, the Puppy iso file is unpacked and all the files in it are burned to the CD.
End up with a bunch of Puppy files on the CD.
Live Puppy USB flash drives are made using a program designed to do the same to a USB flash drive.
There are several of them.
I use Unetbootin.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Reason I'm asking is that I have no way of testing before I hand over a Puppy CD to my friend to use.
It's a Macbook Pro 13, which seems to be Intel dual core.
No issues with the bios / boot?

Yes.
Just make sure to burn it as burn iso image.
If done correctly. It will have a bunch of files on the CD.

Or
Most computers, just as it boots, you can hold down on a key (usually F 8 or F12) and a boot device selection screen will pop up.

On a Mac, hold 'c' from the chime until you see SyslinuxNo issues with the bios / boot?

Only thing in bios is to set the CD as the first boot device.
Thats on a PC. On a Mac, you hold down 'c' from the chime to boot an Internal CD. or hold the option/alt key to see your boot options, such as EFI flash drive.Or
