How to Install FreeMind in Puppy 4?

#1 Post by Gingerman4549 »

I use FreeMind a good deal.

Which of these installations should work on Puppy 4.0?

How would I install it to work?

Freemind is already available for Puppy as a dotpup file. For Puppy v4.0 you would need to install the dotpup handler software, then download and install Freemind from dotpups.de or one of the other Puppy software mirrors.

Go to the Community Website - http://www.puppylinux.org - and navigate to Downloads > Software where you will find a listing of much of the non-official software for Puppy.

Thanks for the help. In the meantime, I've had my first ever hard disk crash, and lost everything recent on my computer.

I'm putting it back together, piece by piece, So I'll get there eventually.

Freemind was working for me sometime ago. I had to reinstall Java and after that it is not working again. The following packages were used:

http://dotpups.de/puppy4/dotpups/Librar ... 6.0_11.pet

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/12/26 ... -6_all.pet

Following error is obtained when trying to run freemind:

# freemind
ERROR: Couldn't find a java virtual machine,
define JAVACMD, JAVA_BINDIR, JAVA_HOME or PATH.

Also, is it possible to set the background color in Freemind to something other than the default ?

Lastly, how can I add an icon for Freemind to my Puppy Desktop ?

Thanks in advance.

Vijay :)

EDITED:
I found another package for Freemind:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Office/freemind-0.8.0-max.pup

and Java
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Libraries/Jre1.5.0_08.pup

I got the Java1.5*.pup file, converted it to pet file and this resolved the issue.

So here are the remaining questions. Is it possible to set the background color in Freemind to something other than the default or add a background image perhaps ?

Lastly, how can I add an icon for Freemind to my Puppy Desktop ?
