Creating a 2nd home from flash itself.

#1 Post by dionicio »

Event one:
I, with the help of a puppy CD create a puppy flash drive.
Event two:
Boot in that flash drive, on exit create a home, my 1rst home.
Event three:
Remove the flash drive.
Event four, second PC:
Boot with the CD again, once on the desktop, insert the flash drive again, on exit create a 2nd home on the flash drive.
Event five, third PC:
Boot with the flash drive this time, select '0 none', and on exit create a 3rd home on it.

The problem here is '0 none' appears until there are at least 2 homes on the flash.

I should be able to create new homes from the same flash from the beginning.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, too.

You can force the "choose pupsave" dialog by creating a dummy pup_save.2fs file called pup_save-dummy.2fs or similar in the location of your pupsave.

This is similar to something I've commented on before. I will bring it up with WhoDo to see if I can get it into 4.2. Last year I decided I wanted the USB installed Puppy to show the same screen that the CD Puppy shows when it boots. Not only can we do that, but we can also add more screens (accessible with F2, F3, etc.) that can have more detailed information and stuff.

That stuff is all out of date now, but not by too much. So I'll track it down and remind WhoDo about it, to see if he wants it for 4.2.
