I have done this on my eMachines R3350:
Start, Setup, Printer Wizard, bjc-240 CANON BJC 240, OK, 360x180 dpi: A little bit darker for inkjets, OK, 360 dpi: Normal for most inkjets, OK, 360 dpi: High for real cheap old inkjets, OK, Supports coated or glossy paper, most printers, OK, Black ink tank only (I only have a black tank), OK, Parallell port printer driver, OK, OK, Printer/Add printer, Next, Printer name:canonbjc240, Model: bjc240, Next, ijs-bjc-240, Next, paper size: a4, Next,local-port, Next, Name of device: /dev/lp0, Next, Finish
Everything seems to be working fine when I open Xpdq and print out a file. It starts feeding the paper, the cartridge goes back and forth as normal but there's nothing on the page. Totally blank. Doesn't work from Abiword or any text editor. Tried in Mepis prints fine. Any suggestions please?

Problem with Canon BJC-240 printer
open xpdq and select 'Print File'
choose the following file........./usr/share/ps-pdf/colorcir.ps
This is the easiest way test whether the printer is working ( and subsequently narrow down where the problem may be. )
Make sure in the XPDQ setup that the printer is set for monochrome ( if that's all you have )
Let us know if you get any further

Tried in Mepis again. Didn't print there either. Changed ink cartridge. Writes now in Mepis but not in Puppy with Abiword or any text editor. I get Aborted: Ghostscript had no output if I try your suggestion. If I open a CSS file in xpdq it prints it out perfectly except for lack of formatting.
