how puppy create icons of detected block device on desktop

#1 Post by Joydeep »

Dear list,

I like to know little insight of puppy. generally HAL is used to detect the pen-drive, CD/DVD etc.. and it creates a corresponding icon on the desktop. Does puppy also use HAL to do that ? Just come to know that vl-hot as a light weigh replacement to HAL. But like to know how puppy do this; with HAl or devicekit ?

kindly enlighten me.
thanks

Barry made his own event manager:
pup_event_backend_d
pup_event_frontend_d
pup_event_backend_firmware
pup_event_frontend_d-OLD1
pup_event_backend_modprobe
pup_event_load_module

I think they are all shell scripts, so you can just open them in a text editor if you want to see how they work.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

Thanks a lot for this useful information.
I'll look into those scripts.
