How do I set screen refresh rate?

#1 Post by qa1433 »

Hi all,
I am really thrilled with the PUPPY distribution.

That said, I do have one small problem. I need to set my display to 75Hz. It appears to be at 60Hz. Slight filker to 60 Hz.

I have looked around in the x11 files but can't seem to find the file I would normaly make such a change.

Thank you for any help you can provide,

Maybe there is a way, but I don't think it has been verified.

There's a similar thread here

http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110

I don't know if this got resolved, but the thread explains the problem and throws forward a few possible solutions.

If anyone has overcome this problem then please post and inform us. Info like this should be included in the Wiki 8)

<<EDIT>> Bruce beat me to it :(

Great minds though .............................

I've added an answer onto the FAQ:

http://www.goosee.com/puppy/faq.htm

as this is a common question.
I always ran Puppy at 800x600, mostly because I run Puppy on lots of different systems, particularly with little old monitors.
But when GuestToo reported that his monitor runs at over 80Hz, I took a closer look.

I'm now running 1024x768x16 at 87Hz.
