Aitch,thak you.The usb modem works great other than the litle problem of havting to use gkdial to connect and and wvdial to dissconnect.I find this a little strange but I am sure I will solve this soon,thanks again.

I am now using gkdial pup301 hdc install dellc600,usb modem on dialup to post this.I am not sure of connection speed but it is faster than the 33kbs that the cardbus xircom I was using.I will use the xircom when out if I can not recieve wireless,for the ethernet. I am using wvdial 1.5.I have a USR 5637 USB dialup modem. On pup 301 when i use wvdial it tells me password authentication failed it then goes into pppd for along time eventually stopping with error19.i tried gkdial it makes the modem light up as well but does not connect.I am ot sure but I think it...

Just a little update.The Usr5637 usb dialup modem is working.I used info found here by Chriss667 posted in the howto "Internet through a mobile phone.I only added cdc_acm with bootmanager,then typed into terminal the "mknod" 4 lines of code Chriss667 used.I rebooted and installed Wvdi...

john thankyou for your interest with this. i tried your suggestion on a dellc600 with pup 214 and 301 and as well pupeee4 on the 2geee. no luck. usbview sees it. this is a little usb dialup modem, not broadband.

aitch thank you for your help. i used the bootmanager to load module cdc_acm. the usb modem now powers up if i leave it plugged in and boot or plug it in after. usb still sees it bothways . pupdial does noy see it. as well i did not see ttyacm0 in dev/. thank you

i blacklisted yenta_socket and with zicom in puppy4 now loads
modem wizard will not see xircom now when i probe for modem.
so far for blacklisting or not this is the first time 4 loaded all the way.
i am no to sure how to boot with loglevel+7 but i am willing to learn

i tried editing the mod file still stalls at analog modem
tried adding diff modules as well as blacklisting as you suggested still same.
4 still keeps loading if i remove xicom

just a little update on 301. boot with hdc with xircom in cardbus and something in usb port ,usb works when you unplug usb and retry usb it does not work. if i re boot with xircom out usb is ok. 4 remains still unchanged.

i hope i am not wasting your time with this as this modem can only work at 33k. i did pick up a usb modem that i would like some help with when were done with the xircom. the xircom has ethernet it woked in 214 so maybe it is good to pursue anyway. i like to help when i am able, thankyou. in 214 xir...
